Job summary

Brown & Brown, Inc. is seeking an experienced Captive Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting for a portfolio of captive insurance companies, serving as the primary contact with senior management and clients. The role offers remote work from anywhere in the U.S.

and involves GAAP/IFRS reporting, regulatory filings, and coordination with auditors and service providers. The ideal candidate will have 8–12 years of relevant experience, IFRS/statutory accounting expertise, and a CPA

Qualifications

• 8-12 years' experience in a role with similar duties.
• Ability to use initiative and good judgment in accomplishing tasks with minimal errors.
• Must possess critical thinking skills.
• IFRS and statutory accounting expertise are preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Provide advice on compliance requirements, investment regulations and current accounting developments that affect clients.
• Give presentations at client, shareholder, and/or Board of Director meetings to review financial information.
• Prepare and/or review monthly financial statement package and management review for a group of captive clients, in accordance with GAAP, IFRS, SAP and modified GAAP.
• Perform all accounting necessary for maintaining captive clients, including preparing and/or reviewing all general ledgers, reconciliation and customized financial and managerial reports.
• Training, oversight and development of teammates.
• Work with all service providers including but not limited to auditors, actuaries, tax authorities, regulators, investment professionals, lawyers, TPAs and bankers; acting as client point person to organize and coordinate all matters to effectively manage the captive clients.
• Prepare and/or review regulatory filings, premium tax returns and NAIC filings.
• Responsible for regulatory interfacing with each domicile - onshore and offshore, consisting of domiciles such as Vermont, Arizona, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Georgia, Hawaii, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, and South Carolina.
• Responsible or substantive audit review and compliance testing, involving drafting and reviewing of audit reports.
• Monitor cash flow, prepare budgets and ad hoc reports.
• Work with multiple accounting systems, including Acumatica and Velixo to prepare financial statements in accordance appropriate accounting basis.
• Maintain appropriate level of confidentiality of information processed.
• Follow all company policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
