Job summary

Samsara, a public company, seeks a Senior Public Policy & Government Affairs Manager to drive opportunities with Congress and federal agencies from its Washington, D.C. base. You will lead campaigns, coordinate with Public Sector Sales, and guide outside consultants to advance funding and policy aims that enable digital transformation for U.S.

cities, states, and the federal government. The role requires 8+ years in policy or government affairs, strong Capitol Hill experience, and a track record

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 8+ years in public policy, government affairs, or government, with preference for appropriations experience.
• In-house government affairs experience coordinating with sales or revenue teams.
• Deep understanding of federal appropriations and budget process.
• Track record of proactively generating opportunities.
• Established relationships with congressional offices, staff or agencies relevant to transportation, infrastructure, or technology.
• Judgment to evaluate policy or funding opportunities and build a rigorous case.
• Experience with outside consultants and evaluating their strategies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple high-priority projects in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities

• Represent Samsara before Congress, build relationships with members and staff.
• Identify and generate new funding or programmatic opportunities at various government levels.
• Maintain a living opportunities list with clear recommendations.
• Collaborate with Public Sector Sales, translating intelligence into pipeline inputs.
• Stay ahead of congressional and agency developments to shape policy strategy.
• Manage outside consultants, evaluate proposals, and set expectations.
• Draft legislative language, funding tasks, letters, and testimony.
• Coordinate with Legal, Marketing, and Product to align advocacy with business roadmap.
