Job summary

Celanese seeks a Principal Engineer, Major Capital Projects, to lead capital investments ranging from $2 million to $50 million USD. The role can be based in Moncks Corner, SC, Enoree, SC, or Richmond, VA, and involves guiding projects from concept through startup and closeout.

You will act as the overall project leader, delivering scope, cost, schedule, safety and quality outcomes while coordinating with engineering, operations, procurement, and external partners to translate business goals

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Chemical/Mechanical/Civil Engineering or related field.
10+ years of engineering, project management or capital project execution.
Experience leading major capital projects $2M–$50M USD.
Experience in chemical, petrochemical, specialty materials, refining or process manufacturing.
PMP certification and scheduling software knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead the execution of capital projects from initiation through startup and closeout.
Serve as overall project leader for scope, cost, schedule, safety, quality.
Develop execution strategies, resource plans, contracting approaches.
Maintain project controls, risk registers, and change management.
Lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with external partners.
Ensure compliance with Celanese standards and environmental regulations.
Drive safety culture and zero-incident performance.
Oversee procurement, construction, commissioning, turnover, and handoff.
