Job summary

Johns Manville is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead the execution of complex capital projects across our manufacturing operations in North America. You will manage the full lifecycle from concept to commissioning, ensuring safety, on-time delivery, and budget adherence.

Typical projects range from $1M to $20M and involve multi-discipline systems. You will partner with plant leadership and engineering teams to drive performance and deliver business value.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical).
• 5+ years in engineering in industrial/manufacturing environments.
• Proven PM experience with $1M–$20M+ projects.
• Mechanical and/or electrical engineering expertise.
• Strong leadership, initiative and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with MS Project for scheduling.
• Strong computer skills for analysis, reporting, and project tracking.
• Experience managing contractors, subcontractors, and bid processes.
• Experience developing estimates, schedules, and project deliverables.
• Proven ability to write, review, and negotiate technical specs and contracts.
• Ability to manage projects across North America.
• Willingness to travel 40–50%.

Responsibilities

• Lead all technical and commercial aspects of large, complex capital projects.
• Manage scope, budget, schedule, deliverables, execution, and reporting.
• Deliver projects safely, on time, within budget, and to agreed scope.
• Oversee multiple projects concurrently to successful completion.
• Develop scopes, specs, schedules, and cost estimates for multi-discipline projects.
• Perform mechanical and/or electrical detail engineering.
• Ensure designs meet safety, quality, and cost requirements.
• Design safe processes with focus on ergonomics and hazard elimination.
• Apply lean principles to design processes.
• Prepare technical specifications and contracts for equipment/services.
• Manage bids, proposals, and vendor selection.
• Coordinate with plant leadership and cross-functional teams.
• Provide updates to steering team on options, risks, and decisions.
• Enforce safety and environmental policies.
