Job summary

Charter Steel is seeking a Senior Project Engineer for Capital Projects to lead multiple initiatives across our facilities. You will own projects from conception through startup, coordinating with Plant Managers, Operations, and vendors to deliver on safety, cost, and schedule targets.

The role requires strong leadership, engineering expertise, and the ability to influence without direct authority across cross-functional teams. Occasional travel and hybrid work are part of the environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or related field.
• Seven+ years of operational management with direct project management responsibility.
• Experience coaching and influencing others to achieve results.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, justification, design, and execution of capital projects.
• Act as a lead within the operations group and engineering organization.
• Develop financial cases including ROI, NPV and cost impacts.
• Coordinate with Plant Project Managers and external contractors.
• Lead cross-functional teams through the full project lifecycle.
• Ensure adherence to Environmental, Quality and Safety procedures.
