Job summary

Charter Steel, part of Charter Manufacturing, seeks a Senior Project Engineer to lead the full lifecycle of capital projects across facilities, from concept through startup. You will develop business cases, manage budgets, schedules, and safety standards while coordinating with Plant Managers, operations leaders, and outside contractors.

The role requires 7+ years of project leadership in mechanical or electrical engineering, strong communication, and the ability to influence cross-functional

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of operational/project management experience.
• Strong communication and leadership with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, justification, design, and execution of capital projects from definition to closeout.
• Develop and validate financial cases (ROI/NPV) and assess impacts.
• Coordinate between Plant Project Managers and external contractors for engineering solutions.
• Lead cross-functional teams and ensure safety, environmental, and quality compliance.
• Travel ~40% and manage projects across multiple Charter Steel facilities.
