Job summary

Camp Hale at United South End Settlements (USES) in Boston, MA seeks a Camp Director to lead strategy, enrollment, quality programming, safety, and financial sustainability for Camp Hale and USES’s year‑round programming across Boston and Sandwich, NH.

The Director reports to the CEO, builds camper pipelines, strengthens community partnerships, oversees a year‑round and seasonal staff, and collaborates with Development on donor stewardship. Commitment to serving underserved youth is essential.

Qualifications

• Extensive leadership experience in a camp setting.
• 5–7 years of experience in youth development in diverse environments.
• 3+ years of supervising staff.
• Based in or willing to relocate to the greater Boston area.
• Demonstrated commitment to promoting racial justice.
• Familiar with ACA accreditation standards.

Responsibilities

• Enroll campers and meet revenue goals across all sessions.
• Develop and oversee camper recruitment strategy and outreach.
• Increase cross-enrollment between Camp Hale and club48.
• Conduct market analysis and align camp sessions for impact.
• Cultivate relationships with campers, families, and alumni to drive retention.
• Recruit, hire, train, evaluate, and supervise all camp staff.
• Set vision and direction for camp programming and curriculum.
• Oversee Camp Hale program budget (~$1M) and manage expenses.
• Coordinate safety, ACA accreditation, NH licensure, and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate off-season rental use of camp property to maximize revenue.
• Support data collection and use of camper data for program improvement.
