Job summary

The Northern Middlesex YMCA is seeking an Assistant Camp Director to lead the summer camp operations, supervise a 15–20 staff team, and develop engaging camp curriculums. You will collaborate with the director to hire, train, and evaluate staff, manage schedules, and coordinate families and vendor logistics.

This role emphasizes program development, safety, and community engagement, with additional duties in outreach for school groups and community rentals.

Qualifications

• Four-year college degree or equivalent experience in the camp or related field.
• Ability to supervise a team and manage schedules.
• Experience with camp programs and curriculum development.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Lifeguard certification preferred, CPR and First Aid certified.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day camp operations and supervise staff (15-20).
• Coordinate curriculum development for camp programs.
• Plan trainings and lead staff development sessions.
• Coordinate travel and vendor logistics for camps and group rentals.
• Produce schedules and manage communications with families and schools.
• Support recruitment, interviews, and staff performance evaluations.
• Monitor safety and ensure a positive, inclusive camp environment.
