Job summary

RTX Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, Iowa seeks a technician to calibrate, repair, troubleshoot, and monitor test equipment to ensure performance and safety standards. On-site work is required at the Cedar Rapids location, with emphasis on reading schematics and applying electrical theory to improve calibration processes.

The role requires six years of relevant experience and an AA/AS degree, plus strong communication skills and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or two-year post-high school) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of electronic circuitry and troubleshooting.
• Experience with test equipment such as pressure/vacuum gauges, temperature indicators, thermocouples, scales, torque tools, etc. is preferred.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair off prints or written work instructions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; high attention to detail; strong time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Calibrate and repair test equipment related to Physical/Dimensional test equipment, including temperature, torque, pressure, force, mass, and more.
• Read electrical schematics and work from minimal supervision on highly technical tasks.
• Provide technical recommendations for capital, expense, and service acquisitions.
• Operate from minimal documentation or verbal instructions; may assist engineers with design and development of new calibration processes.
• Maintain a monthly/weekly workload of calibration and repair; provide on-site calibration and repairs as needed at various surrounding sites.
• Work with various electrical, physical, and mechanical test equipment; apply electronic theory to configure, model, layout, prototype, build, test, troubleshoot, and modify electronic products for engineering efforts.
• Collaborate within a technical team and communicate with leadership and customers; promote team decision making.
