Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Crashworthiness Engineer to advance safety integration across the vehicle development lifecycle. You will lead CAE simulations (structural and PCEI) using LS-DYNA and coordinate with cross-functional teams to balance safety and performance targets.

Senior/Lead level incumbents will mentor junior members and drive complex, multi-project initiatives. The role supports a hybrid work model in collaboration with global teams and key safety forums.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aero, Civil, Materials, Applied Physics).
• 2+ years with CAE or related engineering experience (DRE, validation, lab).
• Knowledge of engineering theory and application in automotive development.
• Willingness to learn new skills and adapt expeditiously.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others.
• High level of analytical ability to solve challenging problems and to integrate complex systems.
• Knowledge of statistical and optimization tools and techniques.
• High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Understand and apply GM Safety CAE standard work procedures for delivering quality models and simulation results.
• Perform CAE simulations to evaluate structural or PCEI performance for high-speed impact load cases using LS-DYNA software.
• Lead vehicle design decisions with feasible, timely recommendations to meet safety performance targets.
• Collaborate with vehicle program teams, suppliers, and manufacturing to implement design changes.
• Use advanced CAE tools (Variation Study/DOE/DFSS/MDO) to optimize performance.
• Plan, prepare, and analyze post-test results; compare CAE with test results and communicate findings.
• Work with global teams in a collaborative environment.
• Present performance status at Safety PIT, PDT, CIT, SP-QIT forums.
• Demonstrate GM Core Values and Behaviors.
