Job summary

CesiumAstro, a developer of satellite hardware, is seeking a Principal CAD Designer in the United States to lead advanced CAD development for spacecraft components using SolidWorks. You will create and maintain 3D models, drawings, and BOMs, ensure GD&T compliance, manage data in PDM, and collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting/Design Technology.
• 7+ years CAD design in aerospace/manufacturing.
• Proficient in SolidWorks and GD&T.
• Experience with CAD data management and ECOs/ECRs.
• Familiarity with ERP/PLM systems such as SAP/Windchill/ENOVIA.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced CAD drafting and design across the product lifecycle using SolidWorks.
• Generate, modify, and maintain 3D models, assemblies, drawings, and BOMs in PDM.
• Ensure drawings and models meet GD&T and company standards.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and program teams.
• Support prototype, development, and production design updates.
• Maintain CAD files, engineering drawings, and documentation in PDM with version control.
• Prepare and incorporate ECOs/ECRs into released documentation.
• Mentor junior designers and support CAD process improvements.
