Job summary

AEP is seeking a Senior Designer to develop and maintain engineering drawings, 3D models, and design packages for utility and power projects in Columbus, OH. You will translate field information into detailed deliverables while upholding safety and quality standards.

You will collaborate with engineers, project teams, vendors, and field personnel, performing design verification, cost estimates, and documentation control as part of project execution.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent experience in drafting/CAD or engineering technology.
• 4+ years in electric utility and/or industrial drafting/CAD work (or 8+ years with only a HS diploma).
• Experience with CAD/3D modeling and field data integration.
• Familiarity with LiDAR/point cloud workflows and design verification.

Responsibilities

• Develop, revise, and maintain engineering drawings, sketches, 3D models, and design packages.
• Prepare study layouts, construction packages, and engineering deliverables per standards.
• Incorporate field data, LiDAR, vendor data, and engineering direction into deliverables.
• Review vendor drawings and equipment specs to support project execution.
• Coordinate design activities with engineers, project managers, contractors, and field personnel.

Education

Associate degree in drafting and CAD or in civil, electrical or mechanical engineering technology
