Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is hiring a Senior CAD Application Engineer to develop tools and processes for NX and TC data, driving development, analytics, and control systems. The role emphasizes strong mechanical design and software development experience.

You will join a matrix CAD team, collaborate with top scientists and engineers, and contribute to automation and standards across NX models and documentation in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or STEM field.
• 10+ years of industry experience.
• Experience with engineering release workflows and PLM tools.
• Five years of experience as a design engineer of mechanical, electro-mechanical or thermal-mechanical systems.
• Proven ability to extract key data using software automations for NX and TC.
• Experience with GD&T per ASME Y14.100 and ASME Y14.5.
• Ten plus years of experience in application of Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
• Self motivated and ability to apply problem solving methods.
• Experienced with programing Python, NXOpen API, Linux, Git and Computational Geometry.

Responsibilities

• Deliver complete mechanical designs including, tolerance stacks, coordinate CTE/Structural analysis, and assembly procedures.
• Develop CAD design and software workflows that convert parametric models from NX CAD geometry into formats that can be used by engineering teams and control systems within analysis algorithms.
• Develop software automation tools that enable users to interact with NX data from Python.
• Develop software tooling for integrating NX model parameters, coordinate systems, and geometry in existing scientific software tooling.
• Utilize software tools and the NXOpen API to enable coordinate transformations and quick access to a single source of truth.
• Have experience with ASME Y14.100 and ASME Y14.5 standards.
• Develop software tooling to ensure that CAD designs and documentation comply with industry and internal CAD standards.
• Be part of a matrix organization as a member of the CAD Team reporting to a CAD Team Leader/Manager.
• Work within a multi-disciplinary and proven team of top scientists and engineers to support our functional teams.
