Job summary

The City of Cleveland seeks a Senior Cable Splicer to join the Electric Division. You will splice cables up to 15,000 volts, maintain 69kV and 138kV terminations, and work on installations, maintenance, and repair of electric cables and equipment.

This role requires an Ohio CDL Class A, a cable splicer apprenticeship, and the ability to lift 75 pounds. Overtime during emergencies is expected, with a strong emphasis on safety and adherence to APPA, NESC, and NEC standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Must have completed a Cable Splicer Apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities

• Reliably splices high and low tension cables insulated by PILC, XLPE, and EPR.
• Makes transition splices between insulating properties, including stress relief methods.
• Installs oil and vacuum cutouts and wires current, potential, and power control cables for ATO switches.
• Makes and repairs pilot wire cable splices and interprets underground maps.
• Locates underground cables with locators and ensures safe work practices per APPA, NESC, and NEC.
