Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Project Engineer – Systems Engineering for the LEO Ground Project to join the Civil Systems Group. The role requires deep systems engineering expertise, mission-operations readiness, and collaboration with NASA and contractor teams on complex ground systems.

The selected candidate will work on-site at Greenbelt, MD and Suitland, MD, with responsibilities spanning requirements, design, integration, test, and operations while supporting multi-agency mission

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or equivalent STEM field.
• 6+ years of progressively responsible professional experience with ground system command and telemetry hardware/software.
• Proven knowledge in at least one core area of ground system engineering—requirements, design, interfaces, integration, test, operations.
• Ability to evaluate issues and solve problems from a systems perspective.
• Experience with ground system integration.
• Ability to work effectively with Government and Contractor personnel.
• Self-sufficiency, initiative, and excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Willingness to deploy to polar ground sites.
• Active security clearance or ability to obtain; US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the LEO Ground CGS is prepared to support future domestic and international missions.
• Plan and execute CGS integration and test activities, including validation and end-to-end testing.
• Collaborate with Project and Systems Managers on complex technical challenges and recommendations.
• Engage in mission systems activities: architecture, studies, requirements, design, integration, test, verification.
• Coordinate with mission stakeholders, spacecraft, instrument, and ground vendors to drive activities forward.
• Partner with NASA engineers and ETG to identify and resolve risks.
