Job summary

Garmin is seeking a Senior C++ Software Engineer for our Map Technology team in the Greater Kansas City area. The role focuses on technical leadership, architecture, and delivering mapping features across Garmin devices and mobile apps.

You will contribute as an individual contributor, mentor other engineers, and work with cross-functional teams to plan and implement robust software solutions, emphasizing performance, reliability, and scalable design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in CS/related field and 5+ years of experience or equivalent
• Proficiency in C++ and object-oriented design principles
• Experience with Visual Studio and MS SQL Server
• Proven ability delivering production C# code and Web API services
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership as an IC, driving C++ development for mapping features
• Lead complex software designs and review architectures
• Decompose requirements into actionable tasks and schedules
• Research and implement algorithmic solutions for core problems
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to best practices
• Collaborate with product teams on plans and concept documents
• Contribute to project feasibility, risk assessment, and schedules
