Job summary

Garmin International is seeking a Technical Lead C++ Engineer for the Maps Platform at its U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area.

You will help improve how map data is delivered, stored and rendered across embedded devices from wearables to cycling computers, focusing on performance, memory efficiency and scalable data architecture. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 9+ years of relevant experience or equivalent.
• Proficient in C++14 or newer with strong systems knowledge.
• Experience designing scalable, high-performance data systems for embedded devices.
• Ability to decompose requirements into tasks and manage complexity.
• Excellent communication to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of high-performance spatial data systems in C++.
• Improve map rendering performance and data efficiency on embedded devices.
• Review architectures and design modular, scalable software components.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Provide technical direction on performance, memory and usability tradeoffs.
