Understanding Recruitment is hiring a Senior C++ Engineer to support the core systems behind live trading activity. This backend role focuses on low-latency infrastructure handling data, connectivity, and high-throughput services in a production setting.

The ideal candidate will optimize performance, improve latency, and scale distributed systems, collaborating closely with trading and engineering teams in a remote-first, globally distributed setup.

Qualifications

• Strong modern C++ experience in backend or systems engineering.
• Experience building high-performance, low-latency or high-throughput systems.
• Solid understanding of multithreading, concurrency and distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Build and optimise low-latency backend infrastructure supporting live trading systems.
• Develop high-performance market data and exchange connectivity services.
• Improve throughput, latency and resilience across distributed systems in production.
• Collaborate with engineering and trading teams on performance initiatives.
• Debug and resolve complex systems and performance bottlenecks in live environments.
