Job summary

Understanding Recruitment is partnering with a successful proprietary trading firm to hire a C++ Software Engineer to build the systems powering its high-frequency trading infrastructure. You will design, implement and optimise latency-sensitive components, collaborating with traders and researchers to deliver production-ready solutions.

You’ll join a small, highly technical team where engineering work directly impacts trading performance and innovative ideas move quickly to production.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience with modern C++.
• Experience within HFT/electronic trading/market making.
• Experience building high-performance, distributed or latency-sensitive systems.
• Good understanding of networking and concurrent programming.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a desire to tackle complex technical challenges.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimise high-performance C++ systems used in a high-frequency trading environment.
• Develop and improve exchange connectivity, market data and execution infrastructure.
• Improve latency, throughput and reliability across distributed systems.
• Build clean, maintainable software using modern C++.
• Work closely with traders and quantitative researchers to deliver ideas into production.
• Profile, benchmark and optimise system performance.
• Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the firm's trading platform and engineering tooling.
