Garmin seeks a Senior C/C++/RTOS Software Engineer for Cary, NC or Garmin's U.S. HQ in the Greater Kansas City area.

You will join the Core Platform Technology - Sensor Algorithms Team to develop sensor-based algorithms across Garmin products, including smartwatches and cycling computers. The role emphasizes leadership as an individual contributor, embedded software design, HIL testing, and strong problem solving, with mentoring responsibilities and opportunities to influence architecture and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience or equivalent.
• Proficiency in C/C++ on RTOS and software architecture design.
• Experience with algorithmic problem solving and prototyping.
• Experience leading complex software projects as an IC or lead engineer.

Responsibilities

• Lead software development in C/C++ and RTOS for embedded systems.
• Design and review software architectures for new tech and performance improvements.
• Develop embedded software across Garmin product ecosystems (watches, cycling computers).
• Build HIL test infrastructure, CI pipelines, and diagnostic tools.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to project planning and schedules.
• Evaluate design tradeoffs for power, cost, and reliability.
