Job summary

Garmin International is seeking a Senior Software Engineer specializing in C and C++ for embedded software in the Outdoor segment. The role offers technical leadership, code reviews, and hands-on design for navigation and connected vehicle solutions at Garmin's U.S. sites in Cary, NC or the Kansas City area.

The candidate will decompose requirements, mentor engineers, and drive architectural decisions while collaborating across teams and applying robust software engineering practices.

Qualifications

• Degree plus 5+ years of relevant experience or equivalent mix.
• Strong design of software systems and modules for new tech or improved capability.
• Experience leading complex software projects and decomposing requirements.
• Proficiency in C, C++, and OO design with data structures.

Responsibilities

• Lead software development in C/C++ for new products and applications.
• Decompose requirements, design functionality, and plan tasks.
• Research problems and implement algorithmic solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in code reviews.
• Contribute to project planning, estimates, and feasibility assessments.
• Collaborate using configuration management, builds, and debuggers.
