Job summary

Garmin is seeking a Software Engineer 2 for the Core Engineering team at its U.S. headquarters in the Kansas City area.

You will develop embedded C/C++ software on embedded Linux/RTOS for devices like dashcams, chartplotters, and handheld radios, enabling advanced features such as cloud storage updates and wireless connectivity. The role involves prototyping, debugging network performance, collaborating across Garmin, and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 1 year of relevant embedded software experience.
• Proficiency in developing embedded C/C++ on Linux or RTOS.
• Familiarity with CM systems, debuggers, emulators, simulators, and logic analyzers.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver high-quality embedded C/C++ software on embedded Linux and RTOS.
• Prototype and productize software features in a fast-paced environment.
• Analyze, debug, and resolve Wi‑Fi and LTE performance and interoperability issues.
• Collaborate with Garmin teams to implement new use-cases and improve existing designs.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and participate in peer code reviews.
