Job summary

Amentum is seeking a mid-to-senior BYG-1 Submarine Combat Systems Technician to join our Norfolk, VA team. This on-site role requires delivering installation, testing, and maintenance of submarine combat systems at customer sites, with a focus on resolving complex system issues.

Responsibilities include supporting EDI changes, generating technical data, and mentoring junior technicians, while travel up to 40% may be required. Active Secret clearance and US citizenship are mandatory.

Qualifications

• Must have an Active Secret US Government Clearance.
• US Citizenship is required to maintain an Active Secret US Government Clearance.
• Mid-Level Education & Experience: High School Diploma/GED and five (5) years of practical experience, OR an applicable degree/formal electronics training combined with three (3) years of practical experience.
• Senior-Level Education & Experience: High School Diploma/GED and ten (10) years of practical experience, OR an applicable degree/formal electronics training combined with six (6) years of practical experience.
• Submarine Combat Systems equipment experience is required.
• Position requires travel up to 40% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Install, monitor, and service equipment and systems at Company and client sites.
• Assist with test and evaluation, checkout, certification tasks.
• Perform validations/verifications of various electronic systems.
• Review change proposals for equipment impacts.
• Assist in accomplishing Engineering Change Instructions.
• Develop technical/engineering data for Planned Maintenance Systems, technical manuals, trouble-shooting procedures, drawing updates, operation procedures, and maintainability improvements.
• Support systems engineering activities with subject matter expertise.
• Establish and maintain a filing system, databases and logs as needed for tracking project status and inventory.
• Direct on-site customer interface for equipment/systems installation, testing, survey, fabrication, and other engineering tasks as needed.
• Comply with engineering documentation standards, engineering plans, and system specifications and test procedures.
• Provide technical data and evaluation for components, equipment and systems consistent with engineering plans, layout and contract requirements.
• Serve as senior/lead technician and assist in the training of other technicians.
