Job summary

PetSmart, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Buyer at the Phoenix Home Office to set current and future merchandise strategy, determine assortment, create pricing, and identify promotions.

You will lead a team to deliver merchandising strategies that drive sales and margin while staying attuned to customer, market, and competitor trends. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising management, Economics, Business or related field.
• 5 years of retail buying experience required, including high volume and high value categories.
• Experience leading and mentoring a team of Associate Buyers is essential.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Developing and communicating business plans to maximize sales and profitability.
• Negotiating product costs, terms and shipping/returns issues.
• Create partnerships with supply chain, distribution centers, and store operations leaders.
• Developing and influencing vendor relationships to ensure best prices and products.
• Collaborating with merchandising to determine product lifecycle and inventory aging standards.
• Participating in setting and approving pricing strategies to achieve margin objectives.
