Job summary

ASM International is seeking a Senior Buyer to ensure uninterrupted direct materials supply for manufacturing operations in a fast-paced, global semiconductor environment. You will coordinate with planning, engineering, and production teams to align procurement with demand, ramp-ups, and new product introductions.

The role emphasizes data-driven supplier management, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement in delivery, quality, and cost.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required and background in supply chain or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management.
• Extensive experience managing direct materials in manufacturing environments.
• Advanced proficiency in SAP or similar ERP systems with data-driven decision making.
• Strong MS Office skills, especially Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communications skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and supplier relationship management skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands, and make sound decisions with limited supervision.
• Proven ability to influence stakeholders and lead cross-functional initiatives in fast-paced settings.
• Willingness to travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Manage purchasing of direct materials to support production requirements and supply continuity.
• Create, issue, confirm, reschedule, and cancel purchase orders aligned with priorities.
• Lead supplier performance management for material availability and delivery reliability.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate supply risks through supplier engagement and contingency planning.
• Serve as primary purchasing lead for product transfers, ramp-ups, and new product introductions.
• Resolve supplier invoice discrepancies and goods receipt issues with internal stakeholders.
• Analyze supplier performance metrics and drive corrective actions for on-time delivery and quality.
• Lead material expediting efforts and coordinate recovery plans with suppliers.
• Develop and optimize supply flexibility programs (safety stock, VMI, etc.).
• Build strategic supplier relationships to enable operational excellence and risk mitigation.
• Collaborate with planning, sourcing, engineering, manufacturing, quality, and PM teams to resolve complex supply chain challenges.
• Lead supply chain reviews and cross-functional project discussions for assigned commodities.
