Job summary

ASM in Phoenix, AZ seeks a seasoned purchaser to manage direct materials for production and ensure uninterrupted supply. You will create, issue, confirm, reschedule, and cancel purchase orders while coordinating with suppliers to meet schedules.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in purchasing or supply chain, proficiency in SAP, strong Excel/Office skills, and excellent communication. You will drive supplier performance, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement across cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in supply chain management, business, or logistics.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain.
• Experience managing direct materials in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in SAP or similar ERP system.
• Strong MS Office skills: Excel, Word, Outlook.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently with multiple priorities.
• Collaborative, with ownership and urgency.
• Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Manage purchasing of direct materials to support production and demand.
• Create, issue, confirm, reschedule, and cancel purchase orders for accurate execution.
• Monitor material deliveries and drive supplier performance to meet schedules.
• Proactively engage suppliers to mitigate supply risks.
• Coordinate supply activities during product transfers to ensure continuity.
• Resolve supplier invoice discrepancies and goods receipt issues.
• Track supplier on-time delivery and improve performance.
• Expedite material deliveries and address critical gaps with suppliers.
• Implement and manage safety stock and vendor-managed inventory programs.
• Build strong supplier relationships for long-term success.
• Partner with planning, project management, manufacturing, and others to resolve shortages.
• Lead and participate in production, project, and supply chain meetings.
• Drive continuous improvement of purchasing processes.
