The position involves strategic planning, travel to stores and trade shows, and collaboration with planners, allocation and distribution teams to execute execution tactics that maximize profitability.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of retail buying experience preferred.
• Experience buying complex, high-volume merchandise categories.
• Excellent negotiation and marketing skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication and organization.
• Motivated self-starter, capable of taking on new challenges.
• Able to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate.

Responsibilities

• Fosters relationships with vendors and negotiates deals.
• Defines merchandise strategy (close-out vs non-closeout).
• Develops merchandise plans with the planner to hit sales, turns and margins.
• Identifies opportunities to improve sales and margins with planners and analysts.
• Collaborates with Planning, Allocation, Distribution and Transportation to improve processes.
• Travels to stores to understand requirements and trends; visits trade shows and vendor locations to source deals.
