The Senior Buyer supports the strategic and tactical procurement of goods and services for Viant Medical. They are involved in managing key suppliers and supply relationships, supporting the implementation of Viant's global supply programs, and developing procurement processes.
This role may be customer-facing and involves cooperation with customers on complex supplier programs, including price and supply negotiations. Clear communication with suppliers, Viant team members, and customers is essential.
This role is intended to provide remote support to our Chicopee, MA, and Westfield, PA, sites.
Job Responsibilities:
- Place Purchase Orders (PO) based on MRP system alerts.
- Confirm Purchase Orders with suppliers and update ship dates in the system.
- Coordinate with Logistics Specialists to gather necessary documents from suppliers for weekly shipments.
- Generate purchasing reports.
- Maintain communication with internal and external stakeholders regarding customer satisfaction.
- Act on duties within your responsibility when applicable.
- Communicate shortages to relevant departments.
- Monitor and maintain purchasing parameters for procured items.
- Report key metrics timely.
- Coordinate raw material availability with planning to meet production levels.
- Participate in Purchasing Price Variances (PPV) opportunities.
- Join project teams as required.
- Support product launch management activities.
- Monitor inventory levels, identify gaps, and implement solutions.
- Track supplier performance and collaborate with Supplier Quality representatives to address gaps.
- Develop inventory targets and manage purchase orders to meet these targets.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of departmental goals, policies, and priorities.
- Provide technical training and support across categories.
- Lead cross-functional teams.
- Identify and resolve issues using analytical and planning skills.
- Maintain effective use of ERP systems in a dynamic environment.
- Review and improve departmental processes regularly.
- Implement ERP and process improvements to support supply chain stakeholders.
- Participate in defining inventory strategies to meet turnover goals.
- Contribute to VIP initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Advanced bilingual English/Spanish skills (written and spoken).
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or International Trades.
- Knowledge of ERP systems.
- APICS certification preferred.
- Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt) or Lean Manufacturing certification preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in purchasing and manufacturing environments.
- At least 3 years experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical, or other highly regulated industries.
