Responsibilities

My client, a leading building materials manufacturer, is looking for an experienced Senior Buyer to take ownership of purchasing, supplier strategy, cost control, and freight coordination across multiple facilities.

This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned procurement professional who understands the realities of manufacturing—raw material availability, commodity volatility, production demands, supplier performance, and the constant need to protect margins while keeping operations moving.

The ideal candidate is highly analytical, commercially sharp, and comfortable balancing strategic sourcing with hands-on daily purchasing and logistics execution.

What You’ll Do

• Manage the full procurement cycle for raw materials and packaging supplies
• Monitor inventory levels, issue purchase orders, and align deliveries with production demand
• Oversee inbound and outbound freight coordination across multiple facilities
• Manage macro ingredient logistics, vendor communication, data reconciliation, and ERP inventory updates
• Analyze commodity pricing, market trends, supply/demand conditions, and broader economic factors
• Identify and execute continuous cost-saving and leverage-buying opportunities
• Develop and strengthen key supplier relationships
• Partner with leadership on major contract negotiations, pricing, and payment terms
• Prepare and present monthly costing reports
• Evaluate supplier capacity, market risk, and future cost exposure
• Identify and qualify alternate suppliers to reduce supply-chain risk
• Monitor packaging inventory and spending to prevent shortages and improve cost efficiency
• Step in quickly when urgent logistics issues arise to protect operational continuity

What We’re Looking For

• Approximately 10+ years of progressive buyer/procurement experience, ideally within manufacturing or industrial operations
• Strong background purchasing raw materials, commodities, packaging, or production-related supplies
• Proven success negotiating complex supplier contracts, pricing, and terms
• Demonstrated history of delivering measurable cost savings
• Strong understanding of market dynamics, commodity fluctuations, and supply-chain risk
• Excellent mathematical, analytical, and data-analysis skills
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with operations, finance, logistics, and leadership
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Management, or a related field preferred
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills highly valued
• Infor XA ERP experience is a strong plus
