We are seeking a talented Buyer to join a growing industrial manufacturing company with a strong culture and long-term opportunity. You will play a key role in supporting production through effective sourcing, supplier management, and commodity cost and quality control. Responsibilities include:
- Purchase raw materials, components, and services to meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements including preparation and management of spot purchase orders.
- Develop and execute purchasing strategies for assigned commodities, including cost reviews and continuous improvement initiatives. Assist with improving procurement processes, systems, and purchasing-related training.
- Lead sourcing activities, supplier evaluations, risk assessments, and approvals and related documentation. Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and supply agreements.
- Manage supplier performance including cost, quality, lead time, and on-time delivery to prevent production disruptions. Work closely with internal departments to support production schedules, plan for new product requirements, and ensure invoicing and receiving accuracy.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date purchasing records, bills of material, and ERP/MRP records.
- Support inventory management efforts and related cost analysis.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- 4-year degree in related field required.
- 3-5 years of experience as a Buyer or Sourcing Specialist in a manufacturing company including direct experience purchasing raw materials and components for production, negotiating with suppliers, and managing supplier performance, OTD, and quality.
- Strong problem solving, troubleshooting, and critical thinking skills.
- Positive, collaborative self-starter who works well across departments.
- Hands-on approach with strong detail orientation and engaged with day-to-day purchasing execution while able to understand and strive toward meeting the goals of a broader, strategic supply chain strategy.
- Ability to learn highly engineered, technical products quickly.
- Able to travel as needed (less than 15%).
