Senior Buyer

Location – Mississauga, ON

Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Senior Buyer is responsible for procuring goods and services for various projects and business units.

Your role within the team:

1. Create and issue complex procurement packages, including those with high QA standards.
2. Conduct supplier negotiations and site visits as applicable.
3. Create and issue change orders.
4. Interface with key PO stakeholders: Engineering, Project Management, Project Controls, Procurement QA, and Document Control.
5. Resolve PO-related issues as applicable.
6. Mentor Buyers for smaller projects without a dedicated Procurement Lead.
7. Coordinate with clients for review and approval of procurement packages.

The ideal candidate:

• Post-secondary education preferred.
• SCMP certification or enrollment in SCMP programs is desirable.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in buying complex procurement packages or equivalent.
• Experience in supplier negotiations, sourcing, evaluations, and performance management.
• Knowledge of quality standards and supply chain processes at all levels.
• Understanding of contract law and best practices in competitive bidding.
• Experience with manufacturing and supplier facilities.
• Familiarity with complex PO structures, contract terms, and conditions.
• Understanding of financial systems, invoicing, milestone payments, levels of authority, ethics, compliance, and HSE requirements, including complex service and construction contracts and union trades.

Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable):

• Mentor junior buyers and procurement administrators.
• Lead procurement activities as required.

Other aspects (if applicable):

• May be required to travel or work at project sites.
