Job Description
Our client is seeking a qualified Senior Business Analyst to support application development, enhancements, and ongoing production support for its case-management system. In this role, you will lead requirements gathering, analyze and document business and functional requirements, and work closely with project managers, subject matter experts (SMEs), business users, developers, and vendors to deliver reliable system changes.
The ideal candidate is comfortable balancing production support with planned project work: investigating application issues, assessing the impact of proposed enhancements, supporting testing and user acceptance, and helping guide releases from requirements through go-live and post-implementation support.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead or participate in requirements gathering and Joint Application Development (JAD) sessions with project managers, SMEs, business users, developers, and vendors.
- Analyze, define, document, and validate business and functional requirements, use cases, business processes, and system enhancements.
- Provide ongoing production support by investigating application issues, interface errors, reporting discrepancies, and business process problems.
- Work with technical teams to analyze issues, identify root causes, validate proposed solutions, and coordinate resolution.
- Evaluate system enhancement requests and assess potential impacts on existing functionality, business processes, and interfaces.
- Support functional testing, regression testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and defect verification.
- Coordinate with business users, technical teams, and vendors to support system maintenance, enhancements, releases, and implementation timelines.
- Facilitate requirements reviews, validation, approval, and sign-off with appropriate stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain functional specifications, process flows, test scenarios, and supporting documentation.
- Support production deployments, go-live activities, and post-implementation issue resolution.
- Manage competing priorities between production support activities and planned project deliverables.
Required Qualifications
- Experience gathering, analyzing, documenting, and validating business and functional requirements for enterprise IT applications.
- Experience supporting production applications, troubleshooting functional issues, and coordinating resolutions with technical teams.
- Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements, development, testing, and implementation.
- Experience evaluating system changes and their impact on existing applications and business processes.
- Experience supporting functional testing, UAT, and defect resolution.
- Ability to translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements for technical teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio or comparable documentation and diagramming tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five or more years of Business Analyst experience supporting large-scale enterprise systems.
- Working knowledge of our client's system, The Workers Information SysTem (TWIST).
- Experience supporting child welfare applications, including foster care and adoption systems.
- Experience supporting legacy applications, system integrations, and modernization initiatives.
- Working knowledge of SQL, databases, and data analysis for troubleshooting and reporting.
- Experience with requirements management, testing, and issue-tracking tools.
Work Arrangement
This is a fully remote contract position, subject to our client's policies. Kentucky candidates are preferred.
