The Senior Business Intelligence Data Architect is primarily responsible for the creation and maintenance of shared datasets within Power BI. The role will focus on making data from the Enterprise Data Warehouse and other systems available for consumption in reports & for self-service users. Other functions will include mentoring other team members, identifying relevant data for inclusion in the data warehouse, and furthering the development of a data-driven culture within the Bank. Performs other projects and duties as assigned.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:

1. Develops Shared Data Models from the Enterprise Data Warehouse.
2. Assists with migrating from other reporting platforms, including SSAS & Business Objects, by making the data available in Power BI.
3. Creating Prototype Data Solutions to help validate user requests & shape Data Warehouse requirements.
4. Investigating & analyzing data sources to identify relevant information for inclusion in our data solutions.
5. Assists with creating requirements & user-stories to bring additional data into the Enterprise Data Warehouse.
6. Develops and maintains technical documentation and standards documents to ensure consistency, promote best practices, and facilitate knowledge sharing across the Enterprise Data Team and wider organization.
7. Manage and administer Power BI Premium Capacities.
8. Performs routine maintenance and performance tuning as required.
9. May assist with creating various reports, including exploratory and explanatory analysis packages.
10. Provides production support as needed.
11. Will knowledge share and mentor other members of the team & bank.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

1. Advanced knowledge working with Microsoft Power BI, including a strong knowledge of DAX, and PowerQuery/M.
2. Experience working with Microsoft Fabric and/or Microsoft Azure.
3. Advanced knowledge writing SQL Queries & Views & Stored Procedures, with the ability to use CTEs, Temp Tables, Indexes.
4. Expertise in dimensional modeling and star-schema design for BI applications.
5. Excellent initiative, innovating thinking skills, and the ability to analyze details and properly organize them into the overall data strategy.
6. Strong understanding of data governance, security and compliance in the financial sector.
7. Proven ability to optimize performance for large-scale datasets.
8. Proficient with using Excel for basic data quality & validation checks.
9. Understanding of software development standards & practices, including the Agile & Scrum methodologies, versioning & source control, and change management.
10. Familiarity with development tools & languages including Visual Studio, C#, and SSIS and Python.
11. Excellent time management & prioritization skills.
12. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
13. Familiarity with data visualization techniques and best practices.
14. Familiarity with banking & financial industry terminology & practices.

Industry and Work Experience:

1. 8+ years of experience in a Business Intelligence and/or Data Warehousing Environment.
2. 1+ year of experience managing Premium Capacities within the Power BI service preferred.
3. Banking and/or financial industry experience strongly preferred.
4. Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate or Azure Data Engineer Associate certifications are a plus.

Academic:

Bachelor’s degree in a technology field or commensurate work experience required.
