Job summary

Home Bank is seeking a Senior Underwriter in the Lafayette, LA market to evaluate commercial credit requests, including working capital and asset-based lines of credit, as well as CRE loans. The role collaborates with Relationship Managers to craft well-supported risk assessments for credit approval and ongoing monitoring.

The ideal candidate has five or more years in banking or financial services, strong financial statement analysis skills, and proficiency with MS Office.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of work-related experience in banking or financial services.
• Strong understanding of commercial lending financial analysis and business structures.
• Proficiency in analyzing financial statements to determine creditworthiness.
• Ability to present clear, concise written analysis for management or loan committee.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal business credit requests, including working capital lines of credit, asset-based lines of credit, CRE loans and equipment financing.
• Collaborate with Relationship Managers to present findings and risk mitigations to obtain credit approval.
• Monitor borrower financial performance and ensure covenant calculations align with loan documents.
• Coach or mentor junior underwriters and ensure quality reviews before submission for approval.
• Maintain awareness of bank policies, procedures and regulatory compliance; participate in required training.
• May travel to markets in Louisiana, Mississippi and Houston, TX as needed.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, related field
