Job Overview

We are seeking a Business Architect/Consultant to help Pivotree deliver a strong value proposition to our clients. This position is critical as it is responsible for making definitive recommendations to our customers on how to best establish baselines, KPIs, and set strategies to deliver their digital commerce objectives.

Ideally, the successful candidate will know the Industrial Manufacturing space very well. This position will ensure targeted clients see the added‑value nature of their relationship with the company and specifically with the role of the Business Architect/Consultant as their trusted advisor. The Consultant will advise on Business‑to‑Business (B2B) and Direct‑to‑Consumer (DTC) eCommerce, Product Information Management (PIM), Supply Chain, and Marketplaces.

Responsibilities
Engagement Leadership & Discovery
  • Lead the entire engagement, acting as the primary driver for discovery and strategic vision.
  • Lead Discovery Activities: Own and facilitate key workshops including requirements gathering, current‑state mapping, pain points analysis, future‑state visioning, and capability needs assessment. Drive structured conversations to extract clear, actionable information from stakeholders.
  • Translate Business Needs into Clarity: Synthesize complex business problems into well‑defined requirements, user stories, or future‑state processes. Identify gaps, risks, constraints, and dependencies across business, technology, and operations.
  • Produce High‑Quality Discovery Artifacts: Translate business requirements and solve business problems through technical and non‑technical solutions, ensuring deliverables are polished and accurate. This includes:
    • Current‑state analysis and Future‑state process flows.
    • Use cases, user journeys, and activity diagrams.
    • Integration and data needs.
    • Readouts and recommendations.
Strategy & Advisory
  • Provide Advisory‑Level Insight: Become a Trusted Advisor to the client through knowledge of their business and strategy. Bring Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in Industrial Manufacturing and Commerce to challenge assumptions, validate feasibility, and guide the client toward best practices.
  • Strategic Roadmaps: Provide guidance to clients on how to approach their goals by understanding their needs and developing strategic roadmaps and complex solution consultation.
  • e-Commerce Technology Expertise: Advise on commerce platforms, general knowledge of e‑commerce technology architecture and components. Able to work closely with solution architects to translate business needs into technical requirements and support solution selection and/or design decisions.
  • Build Trusted Relationships: Act as a credible advisor to client SMEs and business owners, ensuring stakeholders feel heard, understood, and guided.
  • Prepare Decision‑Ready Outputs: Structure information so executives can make decisions regarding platform choices, scope, and prioritization. Connect insights to business value and measurable outcomes (with support from BA and Architect).
  • Analyze the strategy and activities of a Digital Commerce business or channel in order to recommend initiatives that the business or channel should undertake.
Client Engagement & Implementation Support
  • Support Engagement Leadership: Partner closely with the Engagement Manager/Director on scope, timeline, stakeholder management, and risk handling. Help maintain alignment across cross‑functional teams (architecture, UX, data, integration, product).
  • Set Up the Implementation for Success: Ensure requirements are implementation‑ready and help estimate effort, confirm assumptions, and translate discovery findings into a practical delivery plan (with support from BA and Architect).
  • Collaborate with developers to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.
  • Lead, facilitate, and participate in client quarterly business reviews.
Thought Leadership
  • Align with industry analysts on a regular basis to represent on Commerce and associated disciplines.
  • Create blogs, whitepapers, and other content around SME topics (specifically Manufacturing and Commerce) as part of thought leadership and support of Pivotree’s marketing efforts.
  • Speak at industry events or host webinars as a recognized expert in the field of Digital Commerce.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Marketing, or related fields.
  • Experience: At least 10+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Solution Architect, or Business Unit Director in an eCommerce or related environment.
  • Industry Focus: Deep knowledge of the Industrial Manufacturing space is highly preferred.
  • Consulting Expertise: Extensive eCommerce consulting experience with demonstrated accomplishments in business strategy, financial/business modeling, and competitive analysis.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver functional and technical solutions within constraints of time and budget.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate with all levels, internally and externally including C‑Level executives , and ability to separate “most‑important” from “somewhat important” tactics based on customer situations.
  • Travel: Ability to travel up to X%.
Preferred Skills
  • BA certification.
  • Experience in a Professional Services organization
