Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Business Analyst – Electronic Health Record (EHR) Systems based in the United States.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to support the evolution of electronic health record systems and clinical applications within a healthcare technology environment. In this role, you will collaborate with clinicians, developers, project teams, and government stakeholders to translate complex business needs into clear, actionable technical requirements. You will oversee requirements throughout the software development lifecycle, supporting solution design, backlog management, testing, and implementation. Your expertise will help ensure that clinical applications align with user needs, operational priorities, and program objectives. Working within Agile and Waterfall environments, you will contribute to process improvements, strengthen documentation practices, and facilitate effective communication between technical and non-technical teams. This fully remote opportunity offers the chance to apply your analytical expertise to healthcare technology initiatives with meaningful public-sector impact. The position requires candidates to reside in the United States and successfully meet applicable background investigation requirements.

Accountabilities
  • Analyze stakeholder needs and translate business objectives into detailed functional and non-functional requirements for electronic health record systems and related clinical applications.
  • Document, organize, and maintain requirements throughout the full software development lifecycle, ensuring traceability and accuracy within the designated requirements repository, including Azure DevOps.
  • Perform functional analysis and modeling to support requirements definition, solution design, process improvement, and the development of effective technical solutions.
  • Create and maintain business and technical documentation, including requirements specifications, process flows, data flow diagrams, user manuals, addenda, presentations, and training materials.
  • Develop and maintain use cases, user stories, prototypes, and wireframes to communicate business needs and support solution development.
  • Manage project backlogs, facilitate prioritization activities, and coordinate change control, scope management, and impact or gap analyses as project requirements evolve.
  • Consult with clients, clinicians, developers, field personnel, and other stakeholders to understand operational challenges and recommend appropriate design solutions.
  • Collaborate with software development teams to ensure requirements are understood, accurately implemented, and aligned with stakeholder expectations.
  • Support the development of test scenarios, test cases, and scripts for user acceptance testing, helping validate that delivered solutions meet documented requirements.
  • Monitor and report metrics related to requirements management, project progress, and client-defined priorities to support informed decision-making.
  • Provide regular status updates to project management leadership and lead analysts, highlighting progress, dependencies, risks, and outstanding issues.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable project documentation standards, contractual reporting obligations, and established requirements engineering practices.
  • Respond to stakeholder inquiries, resolve requirements-related questions, and facilitate communication between clinical, business, and technical teams.
  • Contribute to special projects and continuous improvement initiatives as assigned, adapting to evolving priorities and delivery timelines.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, professional training, and relevant work experience.
  • At least eight years of experience in technical requirements analysis and Requirements Engineering, including practical experience with both Agile and Waterfall software development lifecycle methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience gathering, analyzing, documenting, validating, and managing business, functional, and technical requirements for complex technology projects.
  • Proficiency in creating process diagrams, data flow diagrams, prototypes, wireframes, use cases, and user stories to support requirements analysis and solution design.
  • Experience managing change control activities, including backlog prioritization, scope management, requirements traceability, and impact or gap analysis.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Visio, for documentation, process modeling, and stakeholder communication.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex business needs and develop clear, practical requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, manage changing priorities, and meet competing deadlines.
  • Experience working successfully in remote or geographically distributed teams, with strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to satisfy the applicable background investigation requirements, including a Public Trust Level 5 (MBI/Tier 2) investigation and the requirement to have resided in the United States for at least three of the preceding five years.
  • Preferred: Professional certification such as Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or PMI Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA).
