Job summary

The State of Utah is seeking a Functional Senior Business Analyst in Salt Lake City to act as a liaison between division staff and the vendor. The role coordinates workgroups, maintains system design docs, and ensures deadlines are met while supporting Medicaid production activities.

Responsibilities include reviewing documentation, facilitating releases, conducting research, and performing user acceptance testing.

FT / PT Status – Full-Time Benefits Eligibility – This position is eligible for a full benefits package. Salary – $25.22 - $51.82 Hourly Wage Remote Work / In-Office – Hybrid Application Deadline – 10/4/2026*

Key Responsibilities

The Functional Senior Business Analyst acts as the liaison between division staff and the vendor; facilitate/chair workgroups to maintain system design documents; ensures deadlines are met; review system design documentation for compliance with procedures, policies, regulations and standards have been applied/maintained; make recommendations to management for improving and/or maintaining effective information analysis support for the organization; assist with user acceptance testing.

Responsibilities Include

• Review system documentation and standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with procedures, regulations and standards.
• Coordinate and participate in operational releases.
• Facilitate/Chair work groups, teams, and/or meetings. Creates a positive environment, evaluates group processes, recommends solutions or alternatives, etc.
• Conduct detailed research of intended subject matter according to Division needs.
• Review and/or inspect work for quality, accuracy, and completeness.
• Research and recommend system enhancements to better meet customer needs.
• Perform activities which may include: the utilization of SharePoint and other computer software programs to store data, retrieve stored data, analyze retrieved data, and arrange results in a format that effectively supports Medicaid’s production activities; and helps identify better ways to utilize the system's capabilities.
• Monitor and evaluate operations, programs, processes and/or practices for quality and effectiveness.
• Utilize MS Word, Excel and Google Workspace to create documents and reports.
• Review and perform user acceptance testing.

Supplemental Information

• An offer of employment will be contingent on the applicant successfully passing a DHHS background check.
• This position is currently a hybrid of two (2) days in-office and three (3) remote work days. Please note, a position's eligibility for remote work is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion, at any time, and for any reason
• Effective July 1, 2021, State of Utah Employees must either reside in Utah or be in the process of relocating to Utah within 30 days of their start date.
• Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
