You will own requirements clarity, documentation, testing, and stakeholder communication on high-visibility initiatives, coordinating with senior stakeholders and process owners.

Qualifications

Job Title: Senior Business Analyst

Employment Type: Contract (W2 through ZipStaff — No C2C or 1099)

About the Opportunity

ZipStaff is seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to serve as the primary liaison between Information Technology and multiple business units at a major government organization.

This role supports a large public-sector environment. Candidates with prior experience working in state or federal government settings will find the domain and stakeholder landscape familiar.

This senior role supports critical business processes and applications, leads requirements for large complex projects, coordinates other Business Analysts, and drives process redesign and delivery outcomes. You will own requirements clarity, functional documentation, testing, and stakeholder communication on high-visibility initiatives.

What You’ll Do:

• Act as the primary liaison between the Information Technology department and multiple business units.
• Support key business processes and applications and recommend business process redesign where applicable.
• Gather and document business requirements for large, complex projects.
• Translate requirements into clear business, functional, and use case documents for large, complex projects.
• Provide functional expertise to developers during the design and construction phases of projects.
• Develop and execute comprehensive system test plans, conditions, test scripts, and test cases.
• Maintain business systems standards by applying project management methods, tools, and processes as standard practice.
• Prepare and deliver informative, organized presentations and project status reviews to process owners, customers, and stakeholders.
• Coordinate and oversee the work of multiple Business Analysts on large, complex projects.

Required Qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, or similar role supporting large, complex projects.
• Proven experience acting as the primary liaison between IT and multiple business units.
• Strong ability to gather, document, and translate requirements into business, functional, and use case documents.
• Hands-on experience developing and executing comprehensive system test plans, scripts, and test cases.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating or overseeing the work of other Business Analysts.
• Excellent presentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills with process owners and senior stakeholders.
• Solid understanding of project management methods, tools, and processes.
• Ability to work on-site in Phoenix, AZ.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience supporting government, public sector, or large multi-department organizations.
• Background in business process redesign and application support.
• Experience working with cross-functional delivery teams through design and construction phases.
