Job summary

Bala Consulting Engineers Inc. is seeking an experienced building technology systems designer to join our New York office onsite.

The Senior Systems Specialist – Technology will focus on telecommunications infrastructure and physical security systems for a range of projects, coordinating with architects, engineers and clients. You will develop system concepts, basis-of-design narratives and performance criteria, while supporting project design delivery, QA/QC and business development efforts in

Qualifications

• Industry certifications (BICSI RCDD, OSP, DCDC or similar).
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant engineering, design or management.
• History of thought leadership with formal writing, presentations and/or participation in standards bodies
• Minimum 10 years’ experience technology design or operations

Responsibilities

• Design and document telecommunications systems, including structured cabling, MDF/IDF layouts, pathways and distribution.
• Design physical security systems (access control, CCTV, intercoms).
• Coordinate with Bala’s Audiovisual team and project stakeholders.
• Develop system concepts, basis-of-design narratives, and performance criteria aligned with client IT and security standards.
• Develop systems budgets, scope of responsibility documents and coordination materials.
• Assist in business development and client relations in the New York area.

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant engineering, design or management discipline
