Job summary

Bala Consulting Engineers, a multi-discipline engineering firm, seeks an experienced Senior Systems Specialist for its Arlington, VA office. You will design and document building technology systems, including telecommunications and physical security, coordinating with architects, MEP engineers, and clients to deliver code-compliant, resilient solutions.

The role emphasizes design concepts, budgets, and QA across Bala’s projects, with opportunities for growth in enterprise technology and client

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering, design or management discipline.
• History of thought leadership with formal writing, presentations and/or participation in standards bodies.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience technology design or operations.

Responsibilities

• Design and document telecommunications systems: Structured cabling, equipment rooms, backbone distribution, carrier demarcation.
• Design physical security systems: Electronic access control, video surveillance, intercoms, intrusion detection.
• Coordinate with Bala’s Audiovisual team and develop system concepts aligned with client IT/security standards.
• Develop budgets, scope documents and coordination materials for projects.
• Support marketing and business development efforts and client relationships.

Education
