Job summary

Bala Consulting Engineers in New York seeks an experienced Senior Systems Specialist – Technology to design and coordinate building technology systems, focusing on telecommunications infrastructure and physical security for corporate, educational, healthcare, and multifamily projects. This onsite role collaborates with architects, MEP engineers, and clients to deliver compliant, resilient systems.

Qualifications

• Industry certifications such as BICSI RCDD, OSP, DCDC or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering/design or management discipline.
• History of thought leadership with formal writing, presentations and/or participation in standards bodies.
• Minimum 10 years of technology design or operations experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and document telecommunications systems, including: Structured cabling (copper and fiber), Equipment rooms and pathways, Backbone distribution, Carrier demarcation and service provider coordination.
• Design physical security systems, including: Electronic access control systems, Video surveillance / CCTV, Intercoms and intrusion detection.
• Coordinate with Bala’s Audiovisual team and develop system concepts, basis-of-design narratives, and performance criteria.
• Interface with clients, attend project meetings and site visits; develop budgets and coordination materials.
• Provide QA/QC on technology related projects and assist project managers across Bala’s markets.
