Job summary

CBRE seeks an Assistant Chief Building Engineer in Phoenix to oversee complex building systems, including plumbing, electrical, heating, and cooling. You will manage preventive maintenance, coordinate contractors, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or trade school with 5-8 years of related experience; supervisor experience preferred; CFC certification required.
• Additional certifications in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, HVAC/refrigeration, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry or engine repair.
• Must meet physical requirements including lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing stairs and ladders.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong organizational skills and ability to handle complex calculations.

Responsibilities

• Assign work orders and estimate time/materials; maintain inventory of supplies and tools.
• Maintain and repair advanced mechanical, plumbing, structural, fire/safety and control systems; ensure standards.
• Comply with codes, regulations, and safety directives.
• Develop energy management programs; optimize system operating efficiency.
• Oversee and inspect work by outside contractors; respond to client inquiries and concerns.
• Lead preventive maintenance programs; perform repairs and emergency maintenance as needed.
• Review inspections of building systems (fire alarms, HVAC, plumbing) for design compliance.
• Apply advanced knowledge to develop new methods; mentor others; lead by example.
• Contribute to cross-discipline collaboration and communicate complex ideas effectively.
