Job summary

Scherer Bros Lumber Co. is seeking a Senior Sales Specialist to drive revenue with high-value contractor accounts in our Minnesota territory. You’ll own the pipeline, review blueprints, prepare bids, and coordinate with dispatch to ensure timely deliveries.

You will mentor junior staff, cultivate lasting relationships with builders, and help lead strategic growth initiatives across a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in building materials or lumber sales.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a high-volume contractor account portfolio (>$3M annual potential).
• Ability to read blueprints, perform architectural/spec analysis, and estimate structures.
• Valid driver’s license and regional travel capability; navigate active job sites safely.
• Diploma required; higher education preferred in business/construction management.

Responsibilities

• Own and expand the pipeline by proactively prospecting contractor leads and onboarding with the Credit Department.
• Cultivate deep relationships with homebuilders and commercial contractors, delivering market updates and supply insights.
• Review project blueprints and specifications to deliver accurate bids and product selections for successful execution.
• Coordinate with dispatchers, site superintendents, and internal teams to ensure flawless deliveries and accountable service.
• Mentor sales support staff, lead client engagement initiatives, and drive continuous operational improvements.
