Job summary

AKAM is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead maintenance operations for a high-rise condominium in Fort Lauderdale. You will supervise the maintenance team, coordinate vendors, and drive preventive maintenance programs to ensure safety and efficiency.

Role collaborates with Property Management and the Board on capital projects, inspections, and regulatory compliance, while upholding safety standards and reporting to management.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English and Spanish.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Hospitality, Construction, Facilities Management or related field.
• 5–10 years in facilities management, with 3–5 years in a supervisory role, preferably in high‑rise settings.
• Extensive knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems.
• Proficiency with maintenance management software and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Supervise maintenance personnel, schedule work orders and preventive tasks.
• Coordinate vendors and manage PM programs with Property Management and Board alignment.
• Oversee building systems operation, inspections and safety compliance.
• Lead emergency responses and after-hours coverage.
• Prepare monthly maintenance reports and budgets for management.
