Job summary

The City of Boca Raton is hiring Building Inspectors I/II/III to perform on-site inspections for compliance with codes and approved plans. Work under supervision, with specialization by trade, and mandatory certifications and licensure.

Essential duties include issuing notices of violations, reinspections, and coordination with Chief Inspector. Level II/III add advanced inspections and program duties as described.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Five (5) years of experience in one or more building trades.
• Possession of valid Standard Inspector Certification(s) from Florida DBPR.
• Possession of valid State of Florida Class “E” driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings under construction, alteration, repair and existing buildings for code compliance.
• Identify hazardous conditions; issue notices of violations and reinspect when corrections.
• Prepare inspection reports, maintain records, and testify in court as required.
• Communicate professionally with contractors, property owners, public, and staff about code requirements.
