Job summary

Marion County Public Schools in Ocala, FL is seeking an experienced Building Code Inspector/Plans Examiner to enforce Florida codes on district construction, alterations, and repairs. The role requires a minimum of five years of verifiable experience in related fields, plus Florida certifications or the ability to obtain them within eleven months.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalency required.
• Minimum five years of verifiable experience as a building code inspector, plans examiner, licensed contractor, or in related fields.
• Basic data entry and Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Must hold or obtain required Florida certifications within eleven months of hire.
• Valid Florida driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Inspect construction projects for code compliance during various stages.
• Review amendments and changes to construction documents for adherence to code.
• Serve as liaison with local agencies, utilities and contractors.
• Coordinate with Building Official and maintain project records and reports.
• Monitor progress and quality of work across district facilities.
