Job summary

Transwestern is seeking a Lead Building Engineer in Nashville, TN, responsible for preventive maintenance and repairs of building systems. You will monitor operations, perform carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, and HVAC tasks under limited supervision.

You will oversee staff, schedule preventive maintenance, manage parts inventory, and ensure safety. The role requires strong organizational and communication skills, a focus on energy efficiency, and readiness for on-call duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with 2+ years related experience.
• Minimum of 5 years building maintenance experience.
• Trade license/permit as required for the region (e.g., Journeyman/MasterElectrician).
• Experience with HVAC, boilers, pumps and refrigerant systems; building automation knowledge.
• Strong knowledge of energy management systems and building operations.

Responsibilities

• Review daily work orders and assign tasks; monitor recurring issues.
• Oversee and inspect engineering staff work; ensure client spaces are functional.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for building systems.
• Inspect systems (fire alarms, HVAC, plumbing) and ensure operation per design specs.
• Schedule downtime with clients to minimize business interruption.
• Perform repairs and maintain records; respond to emergencies and on-call shifts.
