Job summary

Johnson Controls in Colorado Springs seeks a seasoned Controls Service Technician 5 to service, repair, design, configure, and operate complex HVAC building control systems and related low-voltage subsystems. You will develop software, commission systems, and prepare submittals to support customers and teams.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience with programming, installing, and/or commissioning controls systems.
• Proficient with LON (Local Operating Networks).
• Knowledge of construction, service mechanical, electrical, or HVAC service industry.
• Understanding of mechanical drawings, electrical wiring diagrams, control theory, building automation systems.
• Experience integrating low-voltage subsystems using Modbus, LON, and BACnet.
• Advanced computer skills, especially with drafting tools such as Visio.
• Ability to explain technical information to non-technical audiences.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, service, and troubleshoot complex building control systems at client sites.
• Create flow diagrams, sequences of operation, BOMs, network layouts, and electrical schematics as needed.
• Develop, test, and adjust software programs to meet facility requirements.
• Coordinate drawings, equipment schedules, and submittals for service execution and project docs.
• Load and commission system-level and network-level controllers and verify functionality.
• Troubleshoot issues with subcontractors to ensure proper operation.
• Prepare field change information for as-built drawings and software updates.
• Inform management, contractors, and customers on progress, risks, and issues.
• Support site training for owners/operators on total building control system.
• Participate in release meetings and perform value engineering where appropriate.
• Provide direction to junior technicians when assigned.
• Follow all safety standards with high regard for safety.
