Job summary

City of Easton in Easton, PA seeks a Chief Code Administrator to oversee building code administration, inspections, and enforcement within the Department of Planning & Codes. This exempt, on-site role leads inspectors and coordinates emergency responses with local agencies.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in building construction, code enforcement, and plan reviews, along with supervisory capabilities and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or higher preferred.
• Progressively responsible experience in building construction, building inspection, code enforcement, engineering, architecture, or related field; municipal and supervisory experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of building construction methods, code administration, inspections, plan review, enforcement procedures, recordkeeping, and municipal operations.
• Ability to supervise personnel, establish priorities, coordinate workflow, provide technical direction, and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the Building Code Official for the City and performs duties under the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code.
• Assists the Director with day-to-day administration and operation of the department, including inspections and code enforcement.
• Supervises inspectors, code officers, and compliance personnel, including assignments, training, and performance evaluations.
• Coordinates emergency response, and participates in boards, commissions, and hearings as needed.
• Reviews construction documents and conducts plan reviews and inspections for code compliance.
• Oversees permits, Certificates of Occupancy, and related documentation; maintains records in permitting systems.
