Job summary

The City of San José is seeking a Senior Executive Analyst in the Budget Office to lead budget development and oversight for major City Service Areas and departments. The role demands strong analytical skills, strategic planning, and a proven ability to coordinate complex budgets with multiple stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will possess budgeting expertise, experience supervising staff, and a track record of delivering accurate budget documents and analyses for senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of professional level analytic and/or administrative experience.
• A Master's Degree in public administration, business administration or related field is preferred, and can be substituted for one year of the required experience.
• Possession of a valid California Driver’s license may be required for some assignments.
• This position requires a disclosure of outside investments, real property interest, income, and business positions.
• Job Expertise – Demonstrates knowledge of city government, budgeting and financial management principles.

Responsibilities

• Develop operating and/or capital budgets for a City Service Area and multiple departments.
• Analyze revenues and expenditures and monitor budgets.
• Coordinate and present budget information to the City Manager.
• Prepare the City’s annual Operating and/or Capital Budgets and review budget-related documents.
• Supervise and mentor Budget Office staff to ensure timely completion of assignments.
